Bloxx Delivers Web Filtering Excellence at Wellingborough School

School has immediate access to safe internet surfing with Bloxx Web Filtering. Bloxx today announced that Wellingborough School is providing safe Internet access for around 900 users and achieving superior anonymous proxy detection by using Bloxx's real time Web filtering, powered by its patented Tru-View Technology.

The School understands that the Internet is a significantly important education tool that students utilise to achieve their full potential and attain the maximum benefit from the education and social programmes available.  But the Web has a dark side that staff and students alike need to be protected from.  After reviewing and trialing a number of Web content filters, the School selected Bloxx Web filtering due to the real-time new site classification or reclassification of sites, superior anonymous proxy detection, and easy to use and proactive nature of the appliance.

Paddy Waugh, Manager of Information Systems at Wellingborough School explains, "We believe Bloxx to be 100% better at detecting anonymous proxies than our previous solution from SurfControl and can say with confidence that our students can no longer access anonymous proxies in order to circumvent our Web Filter and view anything they want on the Internet. Only by adopting such technology from Bloxx can we ensure that pupils are not wasting time surfing sites that have nothing to do with the School curriculum but keep them focused on accessing sites that help them to complete their course work. We can ensure that our users are fully protected from accessing inappropriate sites and the School can meet e-safety guidelines. This is all down to the Bloxx appliance."

Mr Waugh adds, "Another major benefit from the Bloxx appliance is through using its TVT content categorizer. Web pages are automatically scanned, classified and filtered in real-time and Web site reclassification is done immediately.  This enables us to allow access to blocked site immediately upon request.  Our staff and students are really pleased with this service. Also, we have easily created multiple user groups to manage Internet access for everyone at the school.  I can quickly identify any breaches or Web use misconduct, and assure compliance with our Acceptable Use Policy through the Bloxx Web Filtering reporting functionality."

"We have found the Bloxx Web Filter simple and straightforward to use, enabling the IT team to save valuable IT time through the appliance's easy management and maintenance. The appliance doesn't impact the speed or performance of the network as our previous solution did, and is highly reliable with little or no downtime - even during installation.  If we encounter problems or have any questions or queries, the Bloxx Support Team is very responsive and always delivers a fast fix and response to our questions."
